Works just fine with the correct installation, follow the directions!
Purchased last week, received in two days, well packaged, directions are pretty good. BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THEM TO THE LETTER After some trial and error, I got mine working so well it picks up my kids bicycles at 325'. Some suggestions:
1. Purchase 12 ft of 3/4 pvc to run the wire through to protect it. It's not included.
2. Ensure you test thoroughly before burying sensor and wire.. make sure you go to the correct bury depths.
3. Try installing line of site with no/minimal obstructions, trees will significantly reduce your tx distance.
4. When calibrating the txr, MAKE SURE you have removed all shovels picks, etc. ANYTHING metal near the txr, move at least 25' away. other wise the txr won't correctly calibrate. I had to rerun the calibration a few times to get a clean setting.
5. Also, check and recheck for tight connections wire plug to txr.
6. Forget trying to shove the grey pvc into the ground, tapered or not. (mine wasn't) you will damage the wire. you need to dig a hole with a post digger or equivalent and place the tx post pvc the correct depth.
7. The suggestion to drill a hole several inches up the side of the bottom PVC to run the wire through is not a bad one.
8. Make sure you leave 3 inches of extra wire in the top of the pvc once set to connect the tx to and make removal easier if you need to service the txr.
9. Protect the base of the pvc post with something bulky and non metallic, (like a cinder block).
10. Confirm sensitivity is set to maximum initially
