This device might have just saved my life. I am 31 years old and have had palpitations for about ten years now. I never experienced pain during the palpitations, but I tend to experience lots of soreness after these palpitations occur. This pain has been quite intense for about six years now. I had an EKG done many times but was always normal. The doctors never believed my pain. They thought it was merely stress and panic attacks. I knew it was different but didn't know how to prove it. The doctors told me that I wouldn't want a holter monitor because it happens very intermittently (about once every few months). I also agree with that but sadly there wasn't anything empowering the patient in the market before this came along. I have had this device for a few weeks now, and I have finally captured my condition. It was atrial fibrillation. It never occurred to me that that murmur or flutter was afib. I was always concerned with the aftermath: chest pain and soreness. However, my EKG was always normal by that time since my heart had already corrected its rhythm. Last night, I had an AFib episode. I decided to capture an EKG with Kardia and it showed possible atrial fibrillation. I took it a few times over a two hour period and it was always the same. I went to the hospital and they were somewhat in shock that I diagnosed myself based on this device. They thought I was panicking until they saw it on the GE monitor. Having worked as an engineer in GE diagnostic cardiology department myself, I knew that I had captured an AFib when I saw the EKG matching what I saw on kardia. My heart was stuck in AFib for about 8 hours and fortunately it went back into rhythm with medication before they needed to shock it. As a patient, I feel triumphant because I have done my job and the rest is for the doctors to investigate. I can finally exhale knowing that I know what is wrong with me. I am quite sad that I have heart problems when I am still young. However, I am also happy that this pain might finally come to an end. Thank you AliveCor.
