I have nothing against violence or sex in stories but some writers rely on those substances for shock instead of depth of story to be popular. This is one series that can tell a great story without needing any shock factor. 5 stars to the author for doing that! THAT is a talent unto itself in this day and age. Wasn't sure if I wanted to start another series but glad I did with this one. Some people seem to complain it is young adult, but seriously, it is so well written that who cares! I wanted to buy the whole set and read them all in about two weeks. I also ordered the other book set in regards to the viking type storyline being told. For not being violent and sexual, this series pulled me in. Halt is a great character IMO. Don't pass on this series if you feel it is only for young adults, give it a shot as it is a very well rounded storyline without sex and violence. Being able to write a 12 book series without rape and graphic violence is a skill unto itself.
