The AGC-2 with a #7 and the #10 blade cut through her hair like a hot knife through butter-it was very smooth and ...
I researched pet shears and decided to try the AGC-2 based on a review I came across from an professional groomer. We have a labra-doodle but we call her a poodle-dor as her coat is more Poodle than Labrador. She does however retrieve, fetch and swim much faster than my other two full labs-it’s actually hilarious-but anyway.
Our last experience with a “professional” groomer left our poodle-dor timid and sensitive around the ears. We discovered there were several nicks and cuts. Needless to say, our poodle-dor missed her winter shave so her coat had been growing for close to a year and had had become matted and tightly tangled in some areas.
Along with the AGC-2, I purchased a #7 blade as this was my first time shaving an animal and I didn’t want to get too close for fear of nicks and cuts. The AGC-2 with a #7 and the #10 blade cut through her hair like a hot knife through butter-it was very smooth and efficient. I tried a couple of sample cuts with the #7 and #10 blade and stuck with the #7. The AGC is very quiet and did not alarm our dog. It took us less than 45 minutes to completely shave her matted, tangled coat and we were completely satisfied with the results. Swapping the blades was very easy. The AGC-2 #7 blade did “warm-up” but was not hot to the touch and we never worried that it was too hot-I don’t think it’s possible to use any brand and not expect some sort of heat after 45 minutes of use. It’s light and easy to maneuver with a very long cord. Excellent for a Poodle-Dor coat!
