Someone finally got a few things right.
I have had exactly 4 portable grills, my first one being a little cheap tin one that lasted about two uses. Then I got a heavy duty model that I loved but weighed about 20lbs. The third one was a webber charcoal grill and to be honest it was just a mess to transport. This one is my first infrared grill ever, and after only three uses I like all but one thing about it. First off, they finally did portable the right way. The lid had double latches that hold very well, the igniter is behind the leg so it doesn't get snapped off (see pic). The valve, bottle, and tray all tuck nicely inside the grill, making it the best portable grill I have ever used. Like I mentioned this is my first infared grill and the only gripe I have is the grate requires a little extra work to clean and requires the use of a special tool (included). In the big picture it's not that big of deal, but cleanup and storage is important so I thought it worth mention.. Just for a bonus, I want to point out a couple steps that may make your grilling experience a little better. When you first fire up this grill you have to run it at full heat for 15min to "prep" it for food use. In other words, you have to burn all the stink off of it, it will smell like burning plastic for the first ten minutes. If you want a really good grill with no plastic taste, try this. After your 15 min cook off, let the grill cool (not all the way but under 200 degrees). While it is cooling take a handful of smoking chips (found in your local BBQ section of the store), I use mesquite, because I like the taste. Soak the chips in water (or beer/wine) for about ten min (while the grill is cooling). Now spray the grill grate down with a thin coat of olive oil, take your soaked wood chips and place them in the middle of the grill. Turn the grill back on med-high heat and let cook (burn) until the majority of the smoke stops. This process with season your grill and keep your food from tasting plastic-like the first couple times you use it. See pics. I plan on keeping this grill for a very long time, and based on how robust it feels, I suspect I will be able to.
