Good customer service but avoid *static remover*
Yes, it took two attempts to get this on, i.e. the first screen protector had to be replaced by company but I think I learned something critical which might be helpful to other users. The screen comes with very nice packaging and includes: wet wipe and dry wipe, sticky-hinges, cleaning cloth, stiff piece of laminated cardboard, and *beware* static remover - a peel-off square with a lot of stick. With my first application I did everything correctly (used, hinges, carefully lined things up, cleaned the screen...) my one mistake was I thought the static remover was for the screen (I did not see a link for the video instructions with my first screen installation; don't mean I ignored it, I mean if I got the link, I didn't notice it). Once I got the static remover near the screen of my Fire, I immediately realized I'd made a mistake. I honestly don't know what that thing is for but if you touch your Fire screen with it, your screwed. It is very sticky and put some sticky residue on the screen. Despite vigorous cleaning with the wet and dry cloth I'm now convinced that the first installation failed because a microcosm of stick remained on the Fire screen, as there was the one area where it touched and the Omoton screen would not connect there, despite repeated attempts, letting it sit 24 hours, removing, cleaning, reapplying - because I think at that point, the stick had transferred to the original Omoton screen and ruined it. Omoton - and this is why I give 5 stars - was proactive and contacted me to see if I was satisfied, shortly after I'd tossed the first Omoton screen in the garbage out of frustration because of the permanent bubbles on the one side of the screen. They sent me a promo-code for a replacement screen AND a link for a video on installation. I watched the video and saw them doing exactly what I'd done the first time, right up until we got to the *static remover* which was not even opened. Huh. Note to self - don't open static remover while applying screen. AFTER I had successfully applied the replacement screen, I did open the *static remover* and used it to clean my auxiliary Fire cover (the decorated kind you order separately.) The inside of the flap had picked up some cat hair and the static remover, like the giant piece of sticky it is, removed that. Honestly though, I think Omoton could save themselves some grief with replacements if they just didn't include that thing in the first place. I'm guessing the majority of their sales are to U.S. market where people aren't going to patiently watch instruction videos until after they've screwed up installation once. Now that the screen is on I'm satisfied that it will provide that added bit of protection needed for someone who lacks the dexterity to keep a giant piece of sticky tape from touching their Fire screen and is also more likely to bang, drop, or scratch any portable electronic.
