I recommend the following
We make popcorn at least every Friday and Saturday night. My air popper has been thrown out. For us, the Whirley Pop is probably healthier because we don't use any butter as opposed to the air popper. After several weeks of experimentation, I recommend the following: Use coconut oil, I recommend Snappy Colored Coconut Oil and buy the gallon size if your a big popcorn person (much better deal). Use Flavocol Butter Flavored Salt Season the popper with the coconut oil before the first use, let it melt into the pot and wipe clean with a paper towel. Add all ingredients to the pot prior to heating, we use: 1/2 cup popcorn - do not exceed as the popper will overflow 3 Tablespoons of coconut oil 1 Heaping Teaspoon of Flavocol Set the burner to medium high Occasionally turn the crank as the oil melts to combine all ingredients Once the popcorn gets popping, continuously crank, cranking will get more difficult as the popcorn fills the pot, try a few forward and reverse cranks, but do not force it. Empty the popcorn into a bowl as soon as the popping stops to avoid soggy popcorn from all the steam. Enjoy! When cleaning the popper, don't use detergent. Rinse the pot with warm water to get rid of the un-popped and tiny kernels left behind and wipe with paper towels - you always want to leave a fine film of coconut oil behind. I gently clean the lid assembly with soap and water being careful not to damage the components.
