I’ve owned similar poppers in the past and over the years gravitated to microwave popcorn for convienence. Recently I tried popcorn from an expensive carnival kettle style popper that you can find here on amazon and was amazed by the taste. Since then I wanted that same great tasting popcorn at home but did not want to spend $100-$200 for a kettle style popcorn popper. Plus I really didn’t have room for a large popcorn machine in my home. That’s why I chose the Stir Crazy popper. I have experimented with popcorn kernel packages from Great Northern and like three of them. Each pack was different in size only as listed below. These packs are also available on Amazon. 2.5 oz pack - enough for one person 4 oz pack - enough for 2-3 people 6 oz pack - enough for 4 or more (fills stir crazy machine completely up) Pros: - easy to use. Turn on and have popcorn in less than 5 minutes. - easy to clean up. Wipe lower part clean with moist towel after it cools. The top which doubles for a serving bowl is dishwasher safe. - compact. Stores away in my cabinet. - I love the prepackaged popcorn packs that you can use with this machine. - inexpensive. Great price for theater style popcorn made at home. - cheap to use. Buy your own popcorn/oil for lots less than that microwave stuff. Cons: - the top half (bowl) seems a little thin. I handle it with care as I see this will probably be the first thing I may break especially if I were to drop it on a hard surface. - bowl lid. Mine is already falling off when I use the top half as a bowl. Not sure what the fix is for this. I gave it 4 stars as it’s great but not perfect and will follow up on this review in a few months with an update.
