This brush is similar to and significantly less expensive than name-brand brushes I've used in the past. The plastic bristles intermingled with the boar bristles are not quite as fine as what the more expensive brushes had, but that hasn't hampered performance at all. Here is what makes this a 5-star brush: 1) Quality materials. The handle is made of high-grade wood, it's sturdy, and it's well shaped. (The "rival" brushes had plastic handles that ultimately broke, although they do also make wood versions.) The bristles are also quality. Even with extensive use, none of the bristles have pulled out. 2) This brush works well with my hair--wet or dry. I have thick hair, and it brushes through and detangles without pulling. 3) And of course--the price is great for this caliber of brush.
