Reasons why this won't work for everyone, and how it can for some
This may not work for everyone due to:
- simple anatomy. No product like this can be a one size fits all due to the uniqueness of each woman's anatomy, it can be just that simple. That's a bummer, but there may be options you're not aware of just yet. Read at the bottom.
- user error. The instructions included in the box leave a lot to be desired. Even experienced soft cup users have trouble. They are really bad.
See diagram uploaded. This is only found in a tiny little link on the Intimina website... As a "download PDF'. Seriously, this belongs in the box.
There is a front and back to these things. That's not even explained I'm the box! I noticed in comments that some have found success in inserting it "backwards", which also may be an anatomy thing too. It may just work better that way for them. The oblong shape, I'm sure, is to help get it seated behind the pubic bone. Anatomy again may not allow this.
Another issue is the material. Many have commented that the soft cup has a rigid and smoother material, which it does. The Ziggy's rim is thick and bends easily making it hard to get in. I found that some water based lube helps tremendously.
I wish the folks at Intimina did offer different sizes. They also really need better instructions in the packaging. The tiny (I mean tiny) printed insert looks to be generic for all their products, if you can even read it.
There are some good suggestions in these comments. First try making sure it's in the right direction. Use water based lube if you have trouble inserting it. Also, if it bends too much pushing with one finger on the center of the disc, try two farther towards the sides (so it may try to stay it's shape rather than bend). Lots of women have tilted or tipped uterus's. Maybe try inserting it backwards. I think I read someone had the best success with it sideways. So depends on anatomy.
For those who simply can't get the Ziggy to work, there's the"Nixit" out of Canada that is round like the soft cup, and is made is similar material and rim as the Ziggy. And there is also the "Lumma Unique Cup" out of Brazil. They come in 3 sizes and have a thin tail to help with removal. It has a single ridge rim that's a bit firmer.
I hope Intimina is taking notice of the comments in these ratings. I think they have a wonderful product, it's great quality and works great for me. I feel bad for the ladies having trouble because in my opinion the discs are so much better than the cups. Either way, what progress in recent years in getting rid of having to use disposable products. These are awesome.
