Love this!- However, buy filtered water
Let me start by saying that with 3 small children and awful allergies, we have purchased multiple humidifiers. We have gas heaters in our house, so the air is extra dry, especially in cooler weather. We run humidifiers in each room of our house! This humidifier has been my favorite for multiple reasons. As with anything, there are a couple things I would change too, but the good outweighs the bad, in my opinion. Pros: -It says that this will run for 24 hours. I don't turn this on high. I usually keep it about 1/2 to 3/4 and it actually lasts closer to 30 hours!! This is amazing. I'm so accustomed to having to add more water each night before bed, but with this one, I'm only having to switch out the water about twice a week! -It is easy to put the tank on the base. I have other humidifiers that I have to actually sit down on the floor and work with it to get the top to attach to the base correctly. This one isn't as difficult at all. Now, to be fair, I'll add that you do have to make sure that it is turned the right way. -The ability to add the vicks pads in there are a nice bonus. I'll add it as a pro, because there have been times when the kids or I have been stuffed up and I wished that I had this option. Honestly though we don't use them often. It is handy to have the choice. -There is a nifty little handle at the top of the back of the tank. You can't see it in the pictures, but it does make it less awkward to carry and maneuver the tank. -This humidifier is quiet! Not only is there not a background "hummm", it doesn't gargle either!! This goes unnoticed throughout the night. I'm a light sleeper and other models make so much noise, it keeps me up at night. -Granted I only turn this on 1/2-3/4 of the way usually, it adds enough moisture in the air to keep my kids from coughing, but I don't have to put a towel down on the floor underneath it!! It doesn't make a mess. I do always keep the humidifiers inside a laundry basket though...just incase. But, with this one, nothing has been wet in the morning. Cons: -The only negative comment I really have about this humidifier is that you will want to spend the extra money to buy filtered water that has no minerals! There is no filter on this (which to me is actually a PRO, but that's beside the point). I used it for a couple weeks with regular tap water and noticed that there was a thin film of white 'dust' on my furniture. I assume that we are breathing this in too! One of my older kids came into the bedroom and mentioned that it looked 'foggy'. Once I switched to using filtered, mineral-free water this problem resolved itself. This could get costly with some humidifiers, but this one only needs more water added a couple times a week, so to me, its worth it. Overall, I highly recommend this humidifier. It is one of my favorites by far! The price is comparable with other brands/types. The only thing I don't like is the way it spreads minerals around the room, but I guess you're going to have that with any filter-less humidifier.
