I'm a beginner and decided on this detector. Really like all the features this 300 gives you for the price, including the basic accessories. It's a learning curve on the notch discrimination settings, but like I said I'm a beginner. The built-in pinpoint feature is wonderful and so far, no need for an additional handheld pinpoint unit. Headphones are not top of the line and will probably upgrade those for better comfort, but they work. Garrett has an excellent learning tutorial video for this unit on their web site.
