After I received my bookcases I read the reviews and looked at the pictures posted by buyers and asked myself why did I buy this product. But then I thought that there is no way that Sauder has been in business for so many years by manufacturing garbage. So I carefully read and took my time assembling the two bookshelves I purchased. As you can see from my pictures my bookshelves are assembled properly and looks good. I took another look at the pictures submitted by unsatisfied buyers and was able to quickly surmise what went wrong. One purchaser have their bookcase upside down. Most of the other pictures have the moldings flushed with the outside edging of the bookcase when instructions states not to do this but instead the moldings should be 1/4" from the edge of bookcase. Someone else had the individual shelf moldings upside down while another pic showed that the smooth side of the board was not right side up. Another pic showed that a buyer was unhappy with the board at the very top of the bookcase being unfinished. Why would this matter unless the buyer and those who live/visit there are 7'1 tall because this is the only way that board can be seen. The only thing I was not pleased with was the cardboard backing of the bookcase. I think Sauder can spend a few more dollars for better backing material.
