First of all, this scale NEEDS TO BE ON A SOLID, FLAT SURFACE. A lot of reviews have complained about the scale not working when placed on a carpet, but scales don't work on carpets. It has to do with the sensors in them. Before you get upset that your scale isn't working, place it on a hard surface. This is a great, simple scale. It comes on quickly and automatically when you step on. The output is backlit, so its easy to read even in dark environments. It is precise within a tenth of a pound, which is really more precision than anyone needs but at least you know you are getting an accurate reading. The scale is sleek and looks good in a bathroom. Its the perfect scale for someone who just wants a scale. It seems like all scales are becoming smart scales one way or another and becoming outrageously expensive in the name of being able to track your weight automatically on your smart phone. This scale is perfect and at a great price for someone who just wants a scale. *****UPDATE****** After owning this scale for a little while I've noticed some negatives. First, this scale shows every smudge and water mark. Going to the bathroom and a little droplet splashes out? It shows. Flicking water off your hands after washing and some falls on the scale? It shows. It's a little bit annoying because it makes the sleek scale look messy. You have to clean it like every week if you want it to look at its top. Secondly, the scale kind of cheats. If your weight falls within 0.6 pounds of your last measure, it will just revert to the previous measurement. It gives the scale the illusion of being accurate (because the weight readout doesn't jump around) but it can actually be inaccurate if you actually lost half a pound. I still think its a great scale that is very accurate for the most part but these two pitfalls are a bit annoying.
