It was my wife's idea to buy this type of toy as a gift for our 8-year old. I was really lukewarm about it, but decided to go ahead with it. Shopped around online for similar products and found this set to be the best value based on the # of pieces per dollar. Not knowing anything about the size of assembled pieces, I ordered two boxes (glad I did). When she opened the gift, she gave her standard response of "Oh cool" and set it aside. I think they used if for the first time the next day...and BOY were they EXCITED about it. Three girls, 8, almost 10, and 12 years old all LOVED it. My wife likes it, in part, because they aren't using chairs, ladders (etc) to make a fort. its all there in the box. Easy to assemble, take apart and change the configuration to suit their needs. When they're done, it fits into a nice bag and, voila! The sticks are not especially strong, bowing under the weight of fairly thin blankets. So we'll switch to old sheets to help prolong the life of the sticks. A quick, unscientific testing of the "glow-in-the-dark" feature confirms that they do glow. After about 30 seconds under a bulb they continued to glow for *about* 15 min. After two weeks the girls are still enjoying this toy a lot. Creative, compact...and... cool!
