I was using air filters in my house that were 3M Filtrete 2005DC-6 Ultra Allergen Reduction Filters, 1500 MPR, 14 by 20 by 1, 6-Pack thinking that the more they could block, the better I would be. What actually ended up happening was that our ignition switch blew because air could not pass through the other filters. I learned that you can have TOO MUCH of a good thing. I've always contemplated getting a full house air quality system since we do have cats and allergies. But in the meantime, I handle the ducts with our new NordicPure MERV8 pleated filters. Not all filters are created equal - for good or worse :) But I am glad I have found something that works. I was reading about this brand online through a company I trust and they recommended Nordic Pure. So I have my half dozen of them now and will change them every 3-4 months to keep the air fresher. In Winter it is definitely crucial. 5 stars for a air filter that is easy on my system!
