I bought this as a swimsuit cover-up but it is perfect as a summer dress to wear out for a low key dinner. Not fancy enough for a wedding or first date. I am an apple shaped woman who typically wears dress size 16. My belly does not "stick out" and while wearing the dress I do appear to have an hourglass figure. I am a C cup and it does make my chest look larger ( I think this helps with the hourglass look), so you might want to reconsider if you're a DD or above, you might look like you're "all chest". I purchased a XXL & couldn't have been more pleased. It states to dry clean, but I wash it in cold and it's just fine....no shrinkage and I've machine washed & dryed it 3 times. Also, the black does not fade....so happy with that!
