I purchased this device to increase shoulder strength and to be able to do a pushup.
This was advertised on TV (HSN or QVC) for 89.99. I ended up waiting too late and ordered it from the tv's website (HSN or QVC) for $119.99 with the straps. I should not have purchased the straps because I never use them. The item comes with a DVD with exercises. The reviewers state that the DVD is full of jumping jacks, squats, and other items that this device doesn't allow you to do. The device also comes with a meal guide and an instruction manual. The instruction manual specifically states that this device allows you to do the following exercises only: 1. Situps 2. Pushups 3. Bridge 4. Scissor Kicks 5. Forearm and Biceps 6. Triceps 7. Ab Tuck 8. Bicycling I was always taught that the hair of the animal that bit you will heal you. What this means is what hurt you in the first place can also help heal you if you use it in a different manner. Well many many years ago my shoulder got messed up doing pushups. Since that time, the shoulder has healed if I was able to find an exercise that targetted the exact same muscles you use doing pushups and use light weights and slow movements. It is hard to find exercises to target those muscles so when I saw that this device would allow you ot do pushups while taking the pressure off your shoulders, I jumped at it (after some deep thought). My shoulder is getting stronger and better everyday using this device; my abs are also in the banging area from using this device (it may be that I also started doing POUND around the same time I got this device). As I am using the device, I am telling myself thank goodness I already am a a size 6. This device is NOT for BIG PEOPLE; this is a tiny device. Someone said it was popular in Asian countries; I can believe that. I ordered a coat from Asia that was cut for a little girl; they like their stuff small. My overall view or recommendation: If you are a small person (the device says under 250) and by that I don't mean your weight, I mean your frame. If you are a person with a slender or small frame you will enjoy this device. If you are a person who has a hard time doing situps, pushups, the bridge and tricep sitbacks, then you will like this device. If you are a person who needs some rehab on the knee or arms you will like this device. If, however, you are a wide framed person who already is strong in your arms, core and legs then you will not like this device. You would be better off at the gym using the machines. Also, it does come with a little mat, but the mat is just a strip of rubber like material only about 3 inches wide; this is not really a mat. In addition, when you do the ab tuck and bicycle you have to figure out a way to keep the device from moving around.
