★★★★☆
Nice quality, needs adjusting for wire tension and thickness setting, spare cutting wires not avaialbe.
Pro:
Nice quality and ergonomics on the heavy duty handle
Two cutting wires - original and spare
Easy to adjust slicing thickness with a slot screw driver, dime or Swiss Army Knife
Wire is simple to replace but requires a Phillips screwdriver for replacement
Wire tension is easy to adjust with the same Phillips screwdriver
Works well for harder cheeses like Swiss and Cheddar
First wire lasted about 18 months with weekly use as long as proper tension is maintained
Con:
Cannot buy spare cutting wires - must buy a new slicer
Doesn't work well on soft cheese like mozzarella - tends to tear near the end of the cut
NOT dishwasher safe - a dishwasher will discolor the roller (see the attached photo)
Be sure to keep the wire snug but not too snug. Too snug and it will break, too loose and it won't cut properly - tighten screws for wire adjustment
The photo below shows the new slicer on the left and a 2 year old model that has had multiple dishwasher rides which discolors the roller and the screwdrive is representative of what you need to remove or adjust the wire. The thickness is adjusted with a regular slot screwdriver or a dime - a penny is too thick. Hope that helps. Tretiak
