Awesome "sport" camera for someone on a budget!
So I'm always very hesitant when it comes to purchasing electronics that aren't mainstream name brands. However, I wanted to get a "sport camera" that would get the job done and not cost me $400. It seemed that I could either purchase a used "GoPro" camera and take my chances with that, or purchase a new lesser known brand camera. I searched up and down. I found several candidates, but finally decided on this one due to the positive reviews, features, and of course price.
The first thing you notice when you open the box, is that it actually comes with instructions! I have seen numerous reviews for other cameras that claimed they came with no documentation. Not only do they tell you how all the functions work, and how to go through the settings. But it also shows you how to set up different attachments and has QR codes for the iSmart app (which allows connection via smart phone.) The camera also comes with an 8GB memory card, which is enough to get you started, but the camera will accept up to a 32GB card (in case you need more.) Another nice thing is that there are also several basic attachments which will allow you to do many basic things, such as attach to your bike handle bars, bicycle helmet, motorcycle helmet and much more. There are also two different cases, one that is waterproof (however I have not tested this) and one that is open and just holds the camera in place. The waterproof one does muffle the sound, but this is to be expected since it is a SEALED case! You do also get a battery, charger, and micro usb cable to both connect to the charger and computer (to upload media.)
The camera itself seems to be good quality. The 2.0" screen makes it easy to set up the camera when mounting it. There are two large leds on the front. One red, that blinks when it is recording. The other blue, that lights when the camera is being charged. The three buttons are clearly labeled, making it easy to know what you're pressing. I am actually pretty impressed by the video quality. I don't have a "GoPro" to compare it to, but the quality is definitely worth the price you are paying. The big selling factor for this particular camera was the Wi-Fi feature. The app allows you to see what the camera is capturing on your smart phone. You can change between camera and video options, and start and stop recording. There is a slight lag between the camera and the smartphone, however I have been told that even the "GoPro" cameras have this lag. It seems to just be because of the wi-fi connection.
All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase so far. The product quality and picture quality are there. Plus it comes with everything you need to get started. As stated before, I have not compared this to a legit "GoPro," so there may be a difference in picture/video quality between the two. However, for the amount of money that you save with this, there would have to be a HUGE difference (which I can't honestly imagine) to make the "GoPro" worth buying.
