Beautiful Quilting Machine and For Everything Else,TOO
I own an industrial straight stitch Juki for my professional work in the garment industry, and then got interested in quilting. While I was able to do some simple quilting on that machine, it turned out after a lot of discussion with my dealer, that it was not going to be possible to move forward in quilting on that particular machine. Thus, I set out to find a new machine! I was given a thorough demo on the Bernini 800 series, which is complete with a motherboard and zillions of special features, like pre-setting the machine to a particular fabric, but after 50 years of sewing I know intrinsically what those settings are, and at $5000 ON SALE, a lot of money for features I won't use, plus the worry that the motherboard will fail. I was so interested in the Juki TL2010Q, but like many other folks, it seemed hared to find one to" test drive". But once FOUND, it was a simple yes. I felt I could sit down to it, completely understand it, and begin work immediately. It felt great. So I got it. It is one of the most pleasurable expenses in many a year. It makes me smile. And even though I thought I would only use it for quilting, and not piecing, as I do love my Juki industrial, it has become my go-to machine. It is truly a pleasure to sit down to this hybrid industrial/home machine. It has lots of power, a beautiful stitch, it is a mechanical machine, which means that when it fails, it will be metal part, not a computer problem. I adore it. Since I come from a basic industrial experience, the thread cutter is very cool. Needle up/down also good. The bobbin winder is very fast and efficient, though you have to use the bobbins with the notch in them to catch; if I have a problem it is with the presser foot, as I haven't mastered the click for the pedal thread cutting, and I have to be careful not to engage it; I haven't checked out why that is my problem, perhaps I am wearing clunky shoes when I am sewing! Anyway, a minor issue. It is a dream machine for a decent price, and I am lucky enough to have a dealer about an hour away who will be able to service it when needed. Highly recommended if you intend to free motion quilt. Oh, and ALL possible accessories come with the machine. Very thoughtful product.
