Excellent features, SLOW PRINTING!
EDIT 10-6-2016: So i believe i've solved the inherent problem of slow printing with this printer. It was the printer port. Apparently with newer printers a new port technology, WSD can be used with certain Operating systems. I had a feeling that this was causing my slow printing issues described below and sure enough i was right. I switched the port to the standard TCP/IP (network wifi print) port and what once took 1 minute per page now takes 10 seconds for 2 pages!!! I've since modified my rating from 3 to 5 stars. I think this is a Windows issue and not a printer issue. -------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: I recently bought this printer and notice like other reviewers that is very slow to print documents (1 page per minute. B/W text only). I have noticed though that it only prints slow from a Windows 10 computer. If i print from my MacBook Pro it prints much faster. I think it may be the drivers on the Windows 10 computers? It could be a DPI issue where by default its trying to print at a high DPI. I say this because i also notice when it prints from a Windows 10 computer vs my MacBook the print "noise" from the printer sounds different (When it prints from the Windows 10 computer it sounds like its trying to print more details per line vs the MBP). There isn't an option that i've found so far that lets me adjust the DPI settings for print jobs on the Windows computer. I can only adjust print quality which is set as Normal by default. I wonder if Brother were to look into the Win10 drivers maybe they could fix it? I"m tempted to just keep the device because 9/10 i will only be printing from my Macbook anyways. The printer itself is small and compact which is nice. Takes less space on a desk than my previous Canon MX310. The 4 ink cartridge system is much better also. I only will need to replace a single cartridge if needed. I love the LCD screen feature. I have no need for the Fax option but I don't like that it doesn't come with an Ethernet port. Not a deal-breaker but i'd take that over Faxing. The double-sided print feature is cool. According to the printer options, it also supports double-sided scanning too but i haven't used this feature yet (not sure if its auto or manual scanning). Setting up the wifi feature along with installing the printer for my 3 computers went smoothly. Overall I like this printer but will be a bit weary on the slow printing issue. I'll continue to test it to see if my theory on this being localized to Windows 10 computers is the case or not. But like i said i mostly will be printing from my MacBook so i could live with the super slow print jobs but for most people, that may be a deal breaker.
