Five Stars For Quality But 3.5 On Sizing. Updated April 2018 Five Stars
I bought this collar in a size medium for my 17 pound male Shih-Tzu. He's micro-chipped with an ID tag but I liked the idea of a collar that clearly identified his name and my phone number as an extra measure. The stainless steel tag is superior to the aluminum and nickle ID tags, which was originally what I was shopping for. He started having some irritation on his neck were his chain pet store ID tag rested. The cause was his ID tag containing some nickle which I found he has allergy sensitivity to and he needed a stainless steel tag. I came across these collars and thought it was a good idea and ordered it in the blue and neon yellow, which looks great. These collars are made well and the embroidery is defined with easy to read lettering. The problem is in the sizing of the medium 14"- 18". (Loading a product photo with tape measure compared to a 14" Tuff brand collar.) It's difficult to get the collar to adjust to a 14" fit without being bulked up in the middle and obscuring the embroidery. The size small has a max length of 12" which is much to tight for him. If you're ordering a size medium for a 14"-15" neck size be aware that it will take some work to get the collar adjusted to the proper fit and the embroidery will be partially covered. I have a heavy duty sewing machine and I'm considering re-sizing it myself so it's not so bulked up under his neck. Overall, the collar is very well made but the sizing could use some tweaking, maybe a standard 12"-16" collar should be added to the size option. Update: Ordered a new collar due to recent relocation and new number. I order size small this time and it fits my 19lb ShihTzu perfectly. The lettering is bold and bright with excellent craftsmanship. The old one still looks new. Very pleased.
