After having it for awhile...
I've had this product for a while now and have played many different genres of music from it. Here are my observations.
Sound (3/5): They can get loud. The bass is surprisingly clear and doesn't distort at high volumes. The amount of bass is average. The highs get kind of piercing at high volumes. If compared with more expensive bluetooth speakers (soundlink mini II, sound link color, wonderbooms, jbl's), I'd say that the sound quality is definitely worse. That said, it is much better and clearer than all of the 20-40 dollars speakers I've heard. Sound: 3/5
Design (3/5): The design is nice. Good-looking product, buttons are easy to see and reach and have a nice feel to them. The rubberized sides feel nice but pick up a lot of dust. I got a white one and a black one, and of the two, the black one looks nicer and a little more high end. One flaw: The bass radiator is facing down when you lay it horizontally and it makes the oontz jump around all over the place if you are a bass-y song with any sort of volume. It's even worse when it's laid vertically; the Oontz moves all over the place and rotates around while the music plays. There definitely needed to be some kind of base for this speaker. Design: 3/5
Functionality (4/5): The best part of the Oontz is that it can be paired with another one to play (L/R) stereo or they can each just play the full music. They pair well with each other and can be placed pretty far apart. I had to get a replacement for one of the speakers because it was dropping the bluetooth signal, but customer service sent me another speaker and I haven't had issues with connectivity yet. The instructions are clear and it becomes pretty easy and intuitive to pair with a phone, pair with another Oontz, and switch between full stereo and L/R stereo). By far, the speakers sound the best when paired with another one and in L/R setting. The bluetooth takes a bit to connect but the difference between all the different speakers is a matter of seconds anyway. The battery life is excellent and the unit is IPX6 waterproof, which means it can handle everything except being put in standing water/submerged. The unit turns off by itself after awhile if it isn't paired with anything, which is an underrated feature. Functionality: 4/5
The Oontz Angle 3 Ultra, in my opinion, is the best portable bluetooth speaker at the below 50 dollar price point. They sound much fuller and clearer than the Anker Soundcore 2, which would be its closest competitor. The Anker sounds tinny and cheap. If you compare the two devices, the Oontz definitely seems higher quality. I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for decent sound on a budget.
**One small note, it isn't a huge issue but when the Oontz is on without playing anything, it puts out a slight hiss/static sound. This isn't really perceivable when it's playing music (obviously since the music is the prominent sound) and it isn't a huge deal because, how often do we have the speaker on without it playing music? But it's something that you might want to know!
