I read some of the reviews for this bottle, and I can only imagine the people did not read the instructions before using it. Follow these simple steps BEFORE using your new investment: Please make sure that you remove the sticker at the bottom of the filter BEFORE you fill the bottle with water the first time you get it; then fill with water and squeeze the bottle to release the water (do not drink yet) until it's empty, then repeat the process two more times; this will ensure that the initial excess carbon in the bottle rinses out thoroughly. After the initial water rinsing, the water comes out crystal clean. I was very impressed with the quality of the water, and the quality of the bottle. I planned to use my bottle on the next camping trip, but will continue to use it at home for its purified water properties. The squeeze may be slightly difficult for some to force the water out, but I found that suction at the straw worked just as well, although water may drip out slightly after pulling away from your mouth. I could only deduct this was caused by the lack of negative pressure due to not squeezing the bottle. Either way, the bottle delivers what it's supposed to do. Whether you plan to use it for daily drinking consumption, camping, or as part of disaster preparedness, I strongly recommend this product, it works great. Drink to your good health.
