Are you a 5* or 1*?
Going through these reviews there are basically two viewers. These ratings are shockingly polarized. Either they are: 1 star viewers that are so upset that the shows are not close enough replications of the books and that the cinematography is not darker (compared to CW shows) that they have decided it is utter garbage. There is also a group of people who are terrified of woke culture and freak out when men are portrayed negatively. 5 star viewers are either people who did not read the books or are people who read the books and are willing to make concessions on the plot and they have decided to enjoy the show. Personally, I'm in group 2. The first novel was written almost 40 years ago. The series is a massive series of books that must be close to 10,000 pages and over 2,700 NAMED characters. There is no way to word for word, scene for scene make the books into a show. Honestly, I don't think I would even enjoy that as a show, especially when you get into some of the slower parts. The show captures the feel of the world Jordan created and that is awesome. If you're into fantasy and you're not some entrenched Wheel of Time fan that thinks the source material is some sacred text, then you will probably really enjoy the series. Also, to the woke folk, there is plenty of gender equality in the series but understanding that would require not making snap judgements and understanding nuance. If you live in a world of absolutes, I guess you'll have a problem, but honestly liking this show is probably the least of your issues.
