I am quite happy with the results
As I began to scuff up the bed of my truck, I asked myself why am I doing this to a brand new $40k truck to save $400. At that point I was already committed so I pushed forward. I followed the directions exactly, spending a lot of time on prep. I chemically cleaned the bed twice, just to be sure it was clean and free of any wax/oil from the factory. I carefully masked off all areas I did not want any liner. Application was exactly per the instructions. I am quite happy with the results.
A few items of note that might help future users. I coated a full size pickup truck that had a 6.5’ bed. One can was JUST enough. The first coat took a little more than ½ the can so I was worried I would run out on coat two, but it was the exact amount with only ¼ cup or so left over. The second coat did not use as much as the first coat, which was really lucky. If you are going up and over the bed rails, one can would not suffice.
The can says 1 to 4 hours between coats. Well I waited and waited and by dark it had not set up to where I could get in to apply the second coat. I decided to do some research and discovered that humidity has a lot to do with the product curing. We are in the high desert and our humidity is about 18% right now. It took 24 hours to cure to the point I could get in there and apply the second coat, it was still tacky but just. After applying the second coat I soaked the concrete floor of my garage and closed it up to raise the humidity up so it would cure faster.
The included paintbrush is junk, use a quality brush and then toss when done. The included roller seemed to do well.
Use an electric drill and paint stirrer and stir frequently. The rubber particles separate fast. Pour small quantities in your pan as it will even settle in the pan.
I masked very well, but still had a few spots where the liner seeped under the tape. I was easily able to clean up those areas with Acetone and paper towels.
I will edit this post should I run into any issues down the road. For now, I am very pleased and would do it again. I also see other uses for this product, like the deck of my trailer.
