I bought this as an indoor welcome mat to my apartment because I didn’t want one of those rough ones. My entry opens into the kitchen which has a hard floor and I like to take my shoes off there, but wanted something soft to step on when my shoes were off yet tough enough to withstand people stomping their shoes. Let me warn you however, when you first open the box, and it does mention this if you care to read the insert inside, the mat sheds a lot. It’s constantly dropping pieces of itself everywhere. So what you want to do is open it right next to your washing machine, and immediately throw it in there with no detergent. I should warn you again, after it’s washed, you’re going to need to wipe down the inside of your washer with a damp paper towel to cleanup all the lose fibers it left behind. It seriously looks like it disintegrated in there, but somehow it comes out looking fine. Once you take care of that, the rug mat thing is great actually. I haven’t walked in it with muddy shoes yet, and I hope I don’t have to. But I have had guests come over and they notice how soft and comfy it is and they are surprised to hear it is meant to be placed there. It has a nice tough rubber bottom so it doesn’t slide. It has a very low profile so my door just grazes over it. I’m very happy with it. It’s perfect for putting my shoes on and off. Would buy again if I had another door.
