For Idle Hands and Idle Minds
Lately my assistant, Clarance has developed a nasty habit of picking his nails. A common tic, to be sure, that comes over him in times of great stress. Sadly, most of everyday life causes the poor oaf to feel overwhelmed, so he's been seen all over the manor tearing himself apart. Usually he at least has enough wits about him to recover any fallen trimmings, but the other week he left a scrap of himself in the conservatory. This is arguably the worst place in the manor for him to have forgotten himself, as it is the one place that Lady Radcliffe can, and I quote "feel at peace with this miserable charade that is her life." Naturally, she flew into a rage wanting to know who to blame. Clarence fled and I had to save one of the gardeners from being attacked by the good lady and her trowel.
I purchased Clarence this Shashibo cube to keep his hands busy. Although it claims to be able to make 70 shapes, only about 20 of them are satisfying. Nevertheless, Clarence found it to be a good outlet for his wandering anxiety. I myself have picked it up a time or two and I must say it's quite satisfying to manipulate. Sadly, the same can't be said about the trowel, which Lady Radcliffe buried in the hip of the gardener...I'm afraid my speed isn't what it used to be. I let him off with the usual payment to keep such things quiet.
