Exactly what I'm looking for in a Quick Charge 2.0 car charger
So the first (touted) QC 2.0 capable car charger I picked up was the PowerMod one. That one was really bizarre in that whenever the phone's screen was on, it would register as QC 2.0 charger and put out 9V. As soon as the phone's screen turned off though, it dropped to 5V and charged just like a standard 2A charger. It taught me not to trust manufacturer claims without independently testing.
Aukey released this 2 port car charger and their 5 port desktop charger around the same time. I picked up both. I've been happy with both.
This charger is smaller than I expected and the nub portion isn't very long. Reading some of the other recent reviews (the ones before May 2015 aren't for the QC 2.0 capable charger) it appears that if your car's 12V socket is a bit deeper, this charger may not make contact all the way and fail to power on. I have two subarus and it works in both of them; so aside from telling you measure the depth of your 12V socket (and if you do this, don't use anything made of metal) just keep that in mind.
Build quality is good and there aren't any issues with rattles or loose connections (good tension on the side contacts).
Power output is exactly on point with what I'd expect out of a QC 2.0 charger. With my Samsung Galaxy Note 4, it puts out 10.44 watts (8.97V * 1.16A) with the screen turned on and 14.42 watts (8.98V * 1.60A) with the screen turned off.
I like how the sockets are colored differently for quick differentiation between QC 2.0 and regular charging ports. Basically for any car charger, I need to have two ports because 90% of the time, whoever's in the car with me also needs a boost for their device. I consider this a gen 1 device as we haven't seen a flood of capable alternatives on the market yet. For future iterations, I'd suggest making both ports QC 2.0 capable. Not the biggest deal right now as QC 2.0 adoption still hasn't reached beyond flagship devices (May 2015).
