I can see opinions differing on this but I bought this after an online search to find how to rid houseplants of fungus gnats. Diatomaceous soil was recommended. I contacted the company when I received it for instructions how to use it. The reply was they did not know as they did not advertise for fungus gnats in houseplants. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I put 1/4" over the soil in the pot and let it sit. After a week, I mixed it into the top layer of the soil. I did this only one and haven't had a gnat since. The only reason this might not be 5 stars is the lack of directions for this purpose.
