There's a Learning Curve
It took us about a week, after trial and error, and the help of the Amazon community to get this right. We bought a Nespresso Vertuoline anticipating that we could fill the capsules with our own coffee. Well, you can! Our first several cups were a disaster! Coffee grounds everywhere! This is what I learned. I removed the top of the Nespresso capsules with a paring knife, washed and set aside to dry. Use a bottle brush. I ground my fave brand of coffee to espresso grind, refilled the capsule with 3 1/2 scoops tamping down with med/light pressure between scoops. I fill the expresso capsules with about 2 scoops. Fill to the top, then either cover with the foil , or use the paper filter with the plastic disk. Everything has to be level, everything has to be centered. That is the most important thing! If the capsule isn't filled to the top, it will become un-level and that is when you will get a mess. You will get the hang of it. You will save the most money with the paper filters and plastic disk. Don't force anything, Close the top slowly so the little pins go into the holes in the plastic disk. I spend an evening watching TV and filled about 30 capsules and covered with foil for busy mornings. Be patient and ask the Amazon community for help if you need it. After about a week we are now making fabulous coffee with the lovely layer of crema. I love this kit. I think every piece is essential and although it's pricey, it's worth it. I've already ordered refills! Plus I ordered a 2nd plastic disk. Just remember, full, level, centered. Happy coffee making!
