I use this in my classroom as an attention signal. As a teacher of 14 years, I have very strong classroom management. However, this bell has taken it up ten notches by making it so easy to get my students attention. They know what it means when the bell rings. The best thing about it is that I can make it ring even when I'm in the hallway talking and they are too loud or if I go next door to help another teacher. That's something that no other attention signal can do. When I walk into my classroom, it is always quiet. Always. I also do A LOT of small group collaboration and discussion, so I needed a way to quickly and effectively get the kids back together for whole class discussion. At my school, we use hand signals and call backs, which are great at times, but not always visible and convenient. My bell quickly and easily gets attention and I can ring it several times back to back if needed, to really get their attention. It has also been more helpful than a call back this school year for those several times I have lost my voice due to being sick. I'm not saying that this alone will get your students in line. You do have to have a plan for classroom management and set some strong expectations to begin with. However, this tool makes it easy to implement your classroom management plan easily and consistently. I bought this bell at the beginning of the school year and I have been using it every single day since then. My students even enjoy pressing the button and getting the class quiet themselves. I could go on forever and ever, but I'm telling you, you need this is in your classroom. No matter how long or how little you've been teaching. It is a game changer!
